Nuisances

There are few nuisances for the visitor to Finland as it is a safe and well functioning country. However, visitors should take care of the following:

• Winter cold - if temperatures drop to minus 20 you must have very warm clothing and take particular care if there is any wind chill

• Mosquitoes - Lapland from approximately mid-June until early August has an unpleasant number of mosquitoes and other bugs. Mosquitoes are present in other regions of Finland during this time, but to a lesser degree. You should take whatever precautions you feel are necessary including burning coils and using repellent.
